This sim consists of shops, a ballroom and some private homes. One of the oldest of the Avilion sims, it changes little over time. The large ballroom with its beautiful reflective floor is timeless and many elegant ladies and handsome gentlemen gather here to dance the night (or day) away. Surrounding the ballroom are many private islands that Avilion members have made their homes. There is also a romantic chapel, where many beloveds have chosen to wed. In front of the ballroom is an area of shops with everything on sale from clothes to weapons. Also notable is the Tavern: a place to gather and share stories over a glass of mead. In the back of this tavern a portal takes you to Club Drow, an out of character club holding themed parties and club nights with one of our team of Avilion DJ's.
Grove (and Mist – see below) are the only sims where medieval dress is not required. The ballroom has its own dress code but elsewhere, you are simply required to be modestly dressed. Club Drow is only open to adult avatars and people wear modern 'clubbing clothes', but modesty rules still apply.
This is our main role-play area. At the center is a great tree and under its roots sits the drum circle; a place were many people (and creatures) gather to chat and play music around the fire. There is an apothecary and herb garden where the Druids gather and perfect their craft. A beautiful garden of glowing mushrooms is home to the Fae and Pixies, and it also houses their collection of shiny objects. The Gypsy camp is hidden in the trees and for a few Fenye (the gypsy currency) you can have your fortune told. The Elves home, Valinor, lies to the north-west. Valinor is a tall elegant building, made of pure white stone, and has many fountains. There are too many interesting places in Heart to include them all here, so why not come and explore for yourself!
The dress code in Heart is the most formal of all the sims. Imagine attire suitable for a royal court. Ladies should wear skirts to the floor and gentlemen must have their chests covered.
To wander from Heart to a battle on Nexus you must cross through Loch. There is a lot here to distract you from your journey. The Dragons have made their home among fountains of lava in the south. Here you have a choice of paths.
Following the path by the coast will take you to the entrance to an abandoned mine. If you dare enter, make sure you bring supplies, as you may get lost inside the tunnels. It's worth the risk however, as the hatchies have carefully hidden their supplies of cookies and waffles there. From those tunnels is an entrance back to the surface, but not the way you came in. You will find yourselves in a hauntingly beautiful place, of glowing plants and many, many skulls. This is the Drow's home, L'Renden.
If you decide on the inland path, you will walk beside a ancient forest where, if you are quiet, you may spot some wild deer. A warden guards the land and he is always happy to give travellers a warm meal and a cot in the stable in which to rest.
Nexus is where the warriors of Avilion come to train and fight with the weapons of their choice. You land on a floating island, off which you can reach the training grounds of all the combat classes. Also on this island are the CTA benches where the warriors meet before a battle. From these benches you can teleport to the ground or to the holodeck. The ground consists of a large fighting area, including a village, a fortress and wooded areas. The holodeck is where custom built battle grounds are rezzed. This allows for all sorts of battle games; your imagination is the limit!
Dress code in Nexus is less formal than Heart as it is impractical to battle in those beautiful flowing gowns! Medieval themed combat outfits are worn, still modest; close fitting trousers are allowed for both sexes, and men may have bare chests.
This sim is partly a large shop, owned by the creators of Avilion (Serenity Sieyes and Malakh Giles), and partly private homes. The shop sells lovely medieval clothes and accessories as well as some larger items. You can buy tree-houses, decorations and even a full size ship!
